Mandeville School of Music & Dance Offers Piano Lessons in Mandeville, Louisiana & More

Mandeville, Louisiana – Mandeville School Of Music & Dance was established in 1993 and was one of the first music schools to arrive on the Northshore in St. Tammany Parish. The music and dance studio’s mission is to instill a love of music, dance, and the performing and creative arts in children, teens, and adults through inspiring and motivational teaching methods.  Among the many lessons and programs available, Mandeville piano lessons are a cornerstone of the academy’s success with hundreds of students learning to play the piano each week. Piano lessons begin as early as age 5, and students of all levels (brand new beginners – advanced)  take lessons with the school’s University trained piano instructors.  Depending on the needs of the student, 30, 45, and 60 minute weekly classes are available.

In addition to private piano lessons, tuition additionally includes a weekly music theory class where students meet in a small group to learn about the fundamentals of music such as note reading, composition, music history, and more.  All current students additionally receive a free one hour recording session each year to document their accomplishments and are additionally invited to perform in optional showcases and recitals held throughout the school year.

No matter what style of lessons students are interested in pursuing, their talented piano teachers offer a wide range of instructional styles, including classical/traditional, jazz, rock, contemporary, christian, gospel, R&B, country, and more. They also have several music instructors on staff who specialize in helping students learn to improvise and read lead sheets and chord charts.

At the Mandeville School of Music & Dance, all instructors are hired for their talents as professional educators first which means they have the best local piano instructors on staff who are able to effectively plan and communicate lesson plans with students of all ages and levels in a fun and progressive manner. All of their programs are designed for students to adapt to their educational experience and specific interests and goals.

Lessons are additionally offered in numerous other programs, and the age of the student decides enrollment eligibility. Individuals ages 18 months to 4 years old will benefit the most from toddler music or preschool music classes that focus on developing a general appreciation and enjoyment of music, social skills, listening skills, and a broad understanding of a range of musical instruments. Students interested in private music lessons are generally ready at age five to begin singing lessons, as well as drum and violin lessons.  Starting at age 6, students may begin guitar lessons or ukulele instruction, and between ages 8-up students are welcome to begin brass/woodwind programs such as trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet, saxophone and more!

The success of all students (especially at the youngest ages) is highly dependent on the attention span, level of student interest, and parental support.

Dance classes at the academy are offered to students ranging in age from 18 months to adults. Children begin their dance studies in parent & tot classes at the age of 18 months. Their pre-ballet courses start as early as four years old, enabling students to learn the flexibility and body control needed for ballet. All of the students are encouraged to begin with ballet, as it is the foundation for all other dance styles, and can experiment with different styles such as tap, hip hop/jazz, and contemporary/modern once they reach the age of five. The Music school also encourages older beginners and collaborates with each student on a one-on-one basis, ensuring that all of their classes are entirely inclusive and personalized to their individual needs.

Summer music and dance camps are additionally offered each July at the Mandeville campus. Students choose up to eight programs of interest per week. They ensure that each student is exposed to a range of new programs and ideas and a well-rounded performing arts experience by breaking up the day into a variety of different classes.
